Many physicians have long viewed quality care and the responsible utilization of resources to be an integral part of their professional responsibilities. As the health care system changes, however, physicians are increasingly being asked to objectively demonstrate value. In this review article, the author describes the reimbursement and regulatory shift toward value-based care, and provides specific strategies for meeting this care.
