title = "Introduction to the special issue on indigenous politics",
author = "Richard Witmer and Carlson, {Kirsten Matoy} and Laura Evans",
note = "Funding Information: As the body of literature that includes Indigenous peoples or politics grows, we look forward to seeing additional funding for Indigenous centered research, as well as consideration of projects that incorporate Indigenous politics in research grant applications. As Carlson (), Phan and Lee () and Foxworth and Boulding () show, the output of funded research is important to our understanding of Indigenous politics. Examples of high quality externally funded research is already underway at the Native Nations Institute at the University of AZ, at the National Congress of American Indians and the Reclaiming Native Truths Project (Foxworth and Boulding, ) among others.
