Clinical and tribological perspectives of wear in alumina-alumina THR

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

Clinical and tribological perspectives of wear in Alumina-Alumina total hip replacement (THR) are presented. The laboratory and retrieval wear data for alumina-alumina bearings were compared with a clinical history of 3 decades. The relative wear benefits of ceramic-on ceramic (COC) was also clarified. Five areas examined in the study includes clinical characterization of ceramic wear in total hips, laboratory wear-screening studies, simulator wear studies with standard kinematics, simulator wear studies with microseparation kinematics and clinical laboratory perceptions.
