My interests and experience are in the field of the state-of-the-art detectors design, Monte-Carlo simulation, data treatment, and medical imaging. Since 1979, I have participated in novel particle detector designs, manufactures and maintenances. In 2003, I started to work on proton CT scanner development. In 2005, I took a position as Research Associate Professor and Core Physics Lab Director at Radiation Research Laboratories and continued to work on the pCT project. Since April 2011, I have been PI on the multi-PI project “Translating Proton CT from the Physics Laboratory to Clinical Application” (R01), funded by a four-year grant from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. I also developed and patented a novel detector for track structure imaging, capable to register picture of charged particle interactions on nanometer scale with ultimate single-ion resolution. The detector is opening new possibilities in dosimetry, and can provide new class of data for next generation of biophysical models of radiation action.
