    About

    Huma Shah, DrPH, MPH, FACHE has over 20 years of health care administration experience spanning strategy, leadership development, health policy, public health, marketing, community and business development. Dr. Shah has worked in healthcare and higher education settings in the U.S. and abroad. She is passionate about leadership and innovations in healthcare delivery using strategic thinking and values based leadership principles. Most recently she served as a strategy advisor for HC2 Strategies and a specialty hospital located in Abu Dhabi and is currently facilitating CalAIM Indian Health Roundtables. 

    She has served as a faculty member at Loma Linda University School of Public Health since 2012 and held administrative positions at Loma Linda University Health's Marketing Department and Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center (LLUBMC) where she last served as the Director of Research. During her tenure at the BMC she worked on reducing the stigma of mental illness and addiction through research, marketing and community based efforts. In addition she was an integral part of the leadership team and was actively involved in strategic initiatives across the hospital and University.

    Since 2018, Dr. Shah serves as the Program Director for the Masters in Healthcare Administration Program and is a member of the Center for Strategy and Innovation where she is currently championing the School's Organizational Strategy and is a technical advisor for LLUH's Community Health Needs Assessment. She continues to be actively involved in various strategic University Committe taskforces and committees including, Accreditation, Digital Education and the Council for Interprofessional Education where she co-chairs an Assessment Workgroup. In addition, since 2018, she serves as a Faculty Scholar for the Intitute for Health Policy and Leadership.

    Dr. Shah obtained the distinguished FACHE credential in 2021, demonstrating her competency in all areas of healthcare management and signifying her lifelong commitment to professional development and continuous education. She donates her time as an instructor for the BOG series, hosted by the ACHE soCal Chapter. It is a course offered to prepare fellow healthcare executives in preparing for the Board of Governor's exam. This year, she was a recipient of the prestigious 2022 Regents Award which is awarded to ACHE members who have made significant contributions to the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the achievement of ACHE's goals. Recently, Dr. Shah was appointed to be on the ACHE Southern California Chapter Board as the Inland Program Council Chair for 2023. She previously served as the Vice Chair of the Inland Empire Program Council. On a national level, she serves on the Asian Healthcare Leaders Diversity Committee.

    Dr. Shah teaches and has previous taught in the following areas related to her practice experience: Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, Strategic Planning, Health Policy Communications, Health Care Delivery, and Marketing. A former recipient of the Dysinger Excellence in Teaching Award, Dr. Shah loves the art of teaching and connecting with her students to help them achieve their purpose in life.  Her research interests include organizational strategy/culture, health policy, leadership, clinical outcomes, community health, and compassion in the workplace. In addition to teaching, Dr. Shah has served as a faculty advisor for several years for healthcare business case competitions and recently coached a team who won 1st place in the 2021 Health Care Executives Western Region College Bowl. Case methodolgy and competitions is something she is passionate about as it provides a wonderful venue for students to gain real life skills that will help them as they go on to be leaders in healthcare.
